Secondary SchoolThe Mvumi Secondary School, established in 1994, was built on land donated by the village to the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT), Tanzania. The site had previously been occupied by a small middle School. Mr Richard Morris, a New Zealander, became Headmaster in 1996.

Following his appointment the reputation of this co-educational country school increased substantially. A major building programme funded by the Friends of Mvumi Secondary School transformed the facilities. The programme provided boarding accommodation for both girls and boys, an assembly area that doubles as a dining hall, a refurbished science block, library and computer room. A well with electric pump now supplies fresh water. A senior school was opened by the Prime Minister of Tanzania, accompanied by the British High Commissioner and Sir Stuart Rose.

Following Richard Morris's retirement in 2006, Mr John Clark, a former Eton College house master on secondment from Eton, was appointed Headmaster. Numbers have increased rapidly. School numbers are now 430 with a senior school of 50. A further extension of boarding places in 2007 now permits 296 to board. A satellite dish has been purchased so that School now has an reliable internet connection. In 2007 the School was greatly honoured by a visit from President Kikwete of Tanzania.
