Read the latest news from this spring's Mvumi gap year students in the School Blog. The school always welcomes gap year students who want to get involved with the daily life of the school. The ideal period is three months as the school year is divided into two terms of around ten weeks each, and visas are granted for three months. Longer and shorter stays can also be considered.
Find out more about coming to Mvumi in your gap year on our volunteering page. If you'd like to register for more details, simply complete the volunteering form. |

We are delighted to announce that Ned Kemp has been appointed as DCT Mvumi Secondary School's Bursar. He will also be Mvumi sponsorship co-coordinator and Mvumi School Trust's representative in Tanzania. Ned is a graduate of Cambridge University and was formerly a submariner Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. More recently he has been working with Carlisle City Council. Accompanied by Roderick Watson, the Trust's Treasurer and Trustee, Ned visited Mvumi in November for purposes of orientation and orderly handover of business from Julia Bengough who has been acting bursar as well as sponsorship co-coordinator. A new era has begun at Mvumi with the appointment of a Tanzanian head of a Tanzanian school for Tanzanian children. Former Headmaster John Clark and the Trustees of Mvumi School Trust are delighted that Francis Malugu has accepted the post. Mr Malugu was Deputy Head of Mvumi Secondary School so knows its children, staff and requirements well. He is an experienced teacher and examiner, who has spent his working life in schools in the Diocese, and is a man to be respected.
Whilst taking on the mantel of headship Mr Malugu, supported by Mrs Julia Bengough, Sponsorship Co-ordinator, is currently also overseeing the school’s finances, pending the appointment of a full-time Bursar.
Francis Malugu looks forward to building on Mvumi’s now solid reputation as an academic institution of excellence and developing further the lives of young Tanzanians. |
